How we work

No yard, a local number, one price

This is a service-area business. Here is exactly what that means, what you get instead of a yard to walk into, and why it usually works out cheaper.

§ 01

What a service-area business means

There is no public yard. Containers come from depot stock and go straight from the depot to your address, on one truck movement rather than two. That removes a double handling and a set of yard overheads, and the saving turns up in the delivered price.

What you give up is the ability to walk around a row of containers and pick one. That is a real thing to give up, and we replace it with photographs of the actual unit allocated to your job, on request and before delivery. Marks, repairs and shipping-line paint included — photographed as they are rather than composed around.

Why we are direct about itPlenty of businesses in this trade imply a yard they do not have. We would rather say it plainly on a page you can find than have you drive somewhere and find a locked gate.

§ 02

How a job actually runs

OneYou ring, or send the form. We ask what is going inside, where it is going, and what the ground and the approach look like. Three photographs speed this up enormously.

TwoWe tell you the grade the job needs, the size that will physically get there, and the vehicle. If the size you asked for will not fit down your driveway, you hear that now rather than on the day.

ThreeYou get one figure with the cartage in it. Not a container price and a freight bill a fortnight later.

FourIf you want photographs of the specific unit, ask — they are sent before delivery. Then we book a truck and you prepare the pad.

FiveIt arrives, it goes exactly where you agreed, and somebody is there to make sure of it.

§ 03

What we will not do

  • Claim a container will keep floodwater out. It will not, and there is a whole page on why.
  • Describe an as-is unit as watertight. Watertight is a claim about cargo-worthy grade and above, and it is about rain from the sky.
  • Sell you a 40ft when the road in will not take one, or a 20ft when a 10ft is what your driveway allows.
  • Quote a weekly hire rate without the cartage in and out beside it.
  • Deliver onto ground that is not ready, because a badly placed container is expensive to correct.
§ 04

Questions about how we operate

Do you have a yard I can visit?
No. This is a service-area business rather than a walk-in yard — units come from depot stock and go straight to your address, and that is a large part of why the delivered price is what it is. Instead of an inspection you get photographs of the specific unit allocated to your job, on request and before delivery.
Then how do I know what I am getting?
Ask for the photographs, and read the grade description before you order. We photograph the marks and the repairs rather than around them, because a customer who is surprised on delivery day is a customer with a legitimate complaint and nobody at this end wants that phone call.
Who am I actually speaking to?
02 6622 1322 is answered by somebody who knows this district and the roads in it. Not a call centre, and not somebody reading a script written for a different state. If we are out on a truck, leave a message and you will get a call back.
What areas do you cover?
The Northern Rivers — Lismore and the valley, west to Casino and Kyogle, down the Richmond to Coraki, Woodburn and Wardell, and east to Alstonville, Ballina, Byron and the coast. The locality list is where we go most often rather than a boundary. If you are just outside it, ring anyway.
